OUR COMMITMENT TO THE ENVIRONMENT
Northern Industrial Manufacturing takes its environmental policy very seriously, and does everything it can to reduce waste. We have been 3rd party verified compliant to ISO 14001, to ensure implementation of improved environmental performance standards.
Northern Industrial Manufacturing is also one of the first manufacturing facilities in Southeastern Michigan to voluntarily participate in the DTE MIGreenPower Program, creating a cleaner Michigan for all residents.
Northern Industrial and its employees love the Great Lakes, and strive to make this state and country more eco-friendly. We are a small company, and we strive to make our environmental footprint as small as possible. We would encourage everyone to do what they can in this matter, for us, and for future generations to come.
Safeguarding the Planet
Our employees make it a priority to hold themselves and our company responsible for the impact that Northern Industrial Manufacturing has on the environment. We all take pride in our community, and strive to make it clean for future generations. Since we are in the great State of Michigan, with its beautiful Great Lakes, we do what we can to make sure that there is no contamination potential that can make its way into storm drains. We have certified storm water operators onsite which is all a part of our Storm Water Pollution Prevention Plan (SWPPP).
Reusing & Recycling
Northern Industrial Manufacturing accepted as part of its employee driven bright idea program, its first couple of environmentally conscious ideas that have helped us to improve our environmental footprint. Thanks to these ideas and others being submitted and implemented every quarter, we are now reusing cardboard within our facility to help with certain processes, rather than continuing to constantly buy new cardboard. We also have a new recycling effort in place that has reduced our output of waste, and started finding reuse homes for our empty 55-gallon drums dramatically reducing our landfills of significant amounts of plastic and cardboard waste.
Reducing Waste
The use of vinyl gloves is a big deal at Northern, and one which we have tried to combat with many different reusable options. Our employees have access to cotton and foam gloves which we have found are so much better than the alternative nitrile, yet in some cases vinyl still are needed to ensure the continued quality of our manufactured parts. Those who use the cotton and/or rubber gloves are able to reuse them rather than using many nitrile gloves.

Northern Industrial Manufacturing is proud to have been 3rd party verified complaint to ISO 14001, which sets out the criteria for an environmental management system that organizations use to enhance their ecological performance.
ISO 14001 Standards helps facilities control their environmental footprint, reduce impacts, ensure legal compliance, and put in place a specific framework for implementing relevant sustainable practices. A commitment to pollution prevention, corporate responsibility, and better resource management are hallmarks of ISO 14001.
DTE MIGreenPower Certified Manufacturer
Northern Industrial Manufacturing is proud to to be among the first manufacturing facilities to voluntarily participate in the DTE MIGreenPower Program, aimed at putting more clean energy on Michigan’s power grid and protecting the environment for future generations.
By participating in the DTE MIGreenPower Program, Northern has reduced their carbon footprint, contributed to local clean energy, and made a difference in the fight against climate change.
